Like most Muslims, I would also love to see a Caliphate. But I know that with the exception of Umar ibn Abdul Aziz, and the four righteous Caliphs, most of the Caliphs throughout Islamic history were corrupt.

Many of them jealously held on to power. And they brutally suppressed their opponents. The Umayyads started the tradition of cursing Ali ibn ali Talib (though Umar ibn Abdul Aziz put a stop to that).

In short, I do believe reestablishing the Caliphate will do more good than harm for the world (not just the Muslim world - the entire world). I'm just not sure it's going to usher in a new period of peace and prosperity.

But Allah knows best.
